Basketball Practice

Boston has been playing Basketball on a city league for the last couple weeks. Trav and I have been impressed with how well he is playing especially this being his first time. He is getting more competitive and wanting to be as good as everyone around him. Thankfully he does that all while still having fun. I caught this picture of him and his buddy Hudson goofing off during practice. I was dying laughing when I looked over and they were making funny faces on each other.

Preschool

Today my baby started preschool! We just found out on Friday that he got into the district program so it all happened so fast. I guess it wasn't too fast we have been testing what feels like every day for the last month. Who knew there were so many tests you could give a three year old. We were worried that he wouldn't get in because he is doing SO great with everything. In every test category he fell in the average range, which is such a blessing, but can be a curse when you are trying to get him therapy. If he didn't get in through the district we would have had to do it through private party and that is darn expensive. Needless to say we were pretty excited when because of his birth history and small class sizes they let him in.

When they were doing all the testing him going to school a couple hours a day sounded nice, but when I went to drop him off my heart broke into a million pieces. That little boy has completely dictated my schedule for the past three years and has been at my side almost every minute of it too. Lets just say time away from you kids isn't all its cracked up to be. He cried when I dropped him off, but his teacher said within two minutes he was perfectly fine.

I hope that he really enjoys school and can get the help he needs to keep progressing like he has. Because he is doing so well with everything I hope more than anything this can help him with his social skills. I really don't know how he got so big so fast, but I sure am proud of him. I have to add that he was over the moon excited about his back pack and lunch box. Right after we found out he got accepted we went to Target to get him a back pack and he pretty much wore it all weekend.

Cake and Ice Cream

Boston decided not to do a party this year, because he really wanted to make the race car at down town Disney. We told him that he could do a small activity with a couple friends and we would do cake and ice cream the night of his birthday. Before we knew it he had invited a bunch of friends to come over and it left us feeling guilty that it was being held on a Sunday. I guess we forgot how social he is and to plan things out better next time.

For his birthday dinner he yet again chose to have Nachos. I think this is our third year of nachos for his birthday dinner. Lucy and Kayla were super happy to join in on the cheesy goodness.

Cute bunch of kids for your non-birthday party party.

A Birthday Letter

Dear Boston,

How in the world are you six years old!!! I say it every year, but I really can't believe how fast time has gone. You are growing into such a great little boy! Although you aren't so little anymore. You are definitely one of the tallest in your class and I'm pretty sure you love it! You seem to be growing like a weed lately. We have bought you new shoes twice since the school year started from your feet growing so fast. You started the year in an 11-12 and are now wearing a size 1. Dad finally made me go get you new pants because yours were too short. I was not wanting to do it, because its rarely cold enough to wear pants especially for you. You pretty much live in basketball shorts these days.
You are such a great friend. When Daddy and I drop you off at school there is always a group of kids that run up to you yelling your name. It makes me so happy to see you try and include everyone. Logan and Cameron are your two best friends and I'm so glad you have them, because they are such great boys. I do love to hear though when you come home and tell me that you played with another friend because you didn't want to play what they were playing. You are not afraid to be who you are. You stand strong in what you believe and aren't afraid to share your opinion.

You are one creative little boy. You always have big ideas and love to make them happen. Your big ideas almost always mean big messes as well. You are so great at making messes and we are working on you becoming just as good about cleaning them up. You are getting better everyday at your reading and writing. This whole learning to read stage is so much fun! You love to make books and write your own stories. I love how you spell out the words. You refuse to let me help you learn how to read though so I hope your teacher does a good job ha. You also refuse to hold your pencil the right way. You are a great student or so Mrs. Allen says. You get your work done super fast and love to turn your paper over and color pictures on the back of the paper.

You have just started to really show interest in sports and Daddy loves it. You started basketball for the first time this year and you are pretty darn good at it. Your size helps you out a lot on the defensive side. Offensively you have a ways to go, but you are loving learning more about it. Baseball is still your favorite and you are really getting motivated to be better now that you are on a team. It's fun to watch you improve and learn new things especially when they make you so happy.

You are so much fun around our house and we love that you are a part of our family. You continue to be such a great big brother and boy do you have a lot of patience when it comes to Carter. For whatever reason you are his target for all things mean. Daddy and I love to keep you up a little late some nights so that we can just snuggle with you on the couch and chat or watch sports center. You are never at a loss of something to say. You are constantly talking and telling stories.

We sure do love you and couldn't imagine our family with out you. You are an amazing (and super handsome I must add) boy. As much as I want to freeze time I love watching you grow and shape into such an incredible boy. Thank you for being you, because I sure love you just the way you are.

Love, Mom

D-Land Birthday!!!

We are cheap-o when it comes to Disney Land. We pretty much never buy anything when we are there. With how often we go we just have to make it a rule otherwise we could get into serious trouble. We have said from the beginning that the only time we buy stuff at Disney is when it's your birthday. So to say Boston had been looking forward to this day would be an understatement! To make it all the more special Grandma and Grandpa Wilson drove down for the weekend. We spent the day at CA Adventure and the lucky boy got to ride screamin' a couple times just like he wanted!

Daddy came worked a shorter day and came and joined in the fun.

……and the moment we all have been waiting for  Ride Makerz! We walk past this store in downtown Disney all the time and Boston begs us every.single.time to make his own car. It was a darling place and all the boys had fun, Grandpa and Dad included. He got to pick out his body, tires, rims, and all the extras and put his own remote control car together. A little pricey, but worth it if its your birthday and your a cute six year old. We had such a fun day and it was made even better having G&G here.

Hiking

Saturday morning Trav and I took the boys over to a hiking trail down the street from us. Who knew they would love it so much.

Today there was no school so the boys and I headed back over to the trail. This time I just follwed them whereever they wanted to go. I was shocked to see at the end that we had gone over four miles and they didn't complain once! Carter is one determined little guy. I kept trying to hold him because I was sure his legs were tired, but he would not have it. He wanted to do everything Boston did. Boston was out leader for the hike and made sure to point out all the Rattle snake warning signs. He was so happy up there and just talked and talked and talked. It was so much fun and I'm sure we will be doing this lots more.

Centers

Once Carter turned three his therapy was discontinued until we find out if he gets into the school district program. So every Tuesday and Thursday Carter and I head over to Boston's class to help do centers. Boston absolutely loves that we can be there. In fact I think he likes it almost as much as Carter. Boston's class just loves him and they are so great to let him join in on all the activities that they are doing.  Today when we went Mrs. Allen had made Carter his own name tag. He was pretty darn excited to say the least. Have I mentioned how much I love Boston's teacher…..if not A LOT!

Beach Days

If it is over 80 degrees you know where to find us. The boys have so much fun every time we go. I always get a confirmation that this is where we are supposed to be. At least I think that is what it is. Maybe I just can't get over the fact that we are at the beach during winter and I never want to leave. Really though the beach is incredible and it does help ease the blow of how dang expensive it is to live here. We have been looking around to see if we are ready to buy and holy smokes talk about a stab to your bank account. I fell in love with a house the other day and when I looked at it's past selling history and saw that a year and a half ago it sold for $220K under the current list price it made what we knew already that right now in CA it's a terrible time to buy so we will just make ourselves nice and cozy here in our rental for a long while. We aren't sad about that, because we love the house and the location is amazing!

These two together melt my heart. They are like an old married couple and it's the cutest thing ever! Not to mention when they play together it is such a dream they get along so well.
