Self Feeding

People ask all the time if Carter can "self feed". Well it depends on what you consider self feeding. Can he hook up his feeding tube which is filled with his food? You bet! Can he put food in his mouth with finger, spoon/fork, and cup? You bet? Can he swallow all that food and give himself enough food to grow? No, but who cares. We think his way of self feeding is pretty dang cute and super messy I might add. You would think he had cleaned out the pantry by his surrounding when he is "finished". It's hard work chewing all that food and where else would you put chewed up food than on the floor?

This Big Boy

I am crazy about this kid. I am blown away every day with how big he's getting. I mean he is almost 5 which means he's basically almost a teenager! Somehow he can make me want to give him away on the streets one minute and then burst with love the next. If I'm being honest it's rather annoying. How do they know just what to say and do and when to say and do it?!?! He is the master manipulator and well I guess I gotta give him credit for being smart. He turns everything into his idea and makes it sound amazing. To sum it up I am in love with this boy and he has some killer bike tricks.

Therapy Break

This week we finished up our last therapy appointments for the year. Miss Jenny (left. speech) and Miss Lindsey (right. physical) are such incredible women! They have given me so much confidence and knowledge in ways that I can help little man further develop. I feel like it has come at such a sad time. Carter has never really been a fan of PT mostly because it is a lot of hard work and lately with his new walking skills he has LOVED it! Such is life right? I will miss these two, but am really looking forward to not driving 20 minutes 3-4 days a week for a couple hours of therapy. It gets kinda old after a year and a half. Now we are just crossing our fingers that when the new year rolls around we are lucky enough to fit back in their schedule.

Zoo

Our Friends and Preschool lovin' pals invited us to go to the zoo with them. We had such a great time on a near perfect day. Boston absolutely loves Jane and Elliot and they are quite funny together if I do say so myself. Such a fun day doing something out of the norm with cute kids and great company!

The Real Reason

So the real reason we didn't have surgery was that we needed an excuse for Grandma to come to town while we weren't in the hospital. Ha ha not really but just go with it. We had a great time with her here just like always.
We also got to spend more time with these hoolagins. Crazy boys I tell ya!

Not sure if it is the bigger airway or the steroids talking, but Carter has had quite the appetite for real food lately. This day Grandma's Pop Chips were making him SUPER happy.

Moral of the story we faked a surgery so that Grandma would come to town knowing that when we had the real surgery Grandpa wouldn't want to be without Grandma for that long again and he would join for the real thing. We are pretty tricky I tell ya.

T-Ball

We are back at T-ball. Boston is still loving we. We gave him the option to choose between Soccer and T-ball to which he replied "I am only ever playing Baseball for the rest of forever". Totally fine by us.
His favorite positions to play are Cather, Pitcher, and 1st base. Pretty much the only positions that get any action.
He is a great little hitter if he will line up his feet and if his coach remembers to raise the tee. He happens to be just a tad bit taller than most on his team.
I die every time I see him in all his catcher gear. SO cute!
Boston and his best buddy/neighbor are on the same team this year.
He loves having practice mid week and it's amazing how much better they get each week.

Boys Rooms

Looking back through Trav's photo albums growing up he always loves the pictures of his home or his room. It's fun for him to remember things how they were. I remember what my house looked like. I remember what my room looked like, but I will never be able to show pics to my kids of my sponge painted walls with a floral border, floral bedding, floral pillows, floral light and what not so I wanted to document the boys rooms if by any chance their kids someday love to look at pics of their dads room like Boston and Carter do.

With that said I used to always dream of having a home to decorate. Now I just dream of having money to decorate it.  Since a good majority of our extra money goes to medical bills, sports, school and what not we have had a great time putting our house together with very little money and making most everything with our own two hands.
Carter's room was what we used for therapy while he was still in the NICU. Trav hand painted those walls WITH OUT tape! I still can't believe it.  It was what we worked on when the other would spend time at the NICU every night. I made his bedding and quilt and was pretty impressed that it actually turned out with my below average sewing skills. His room came together SO slow, but we were in no rush especially since he wouldn't even be using his room for months after he came home.
Boston's room is still not what I envisioned it to be. The problem is that I didn't and still don't have a vision. I made his bedding which in the beginning was going to be "so much cheaper" than buying what I liked. We all know how that goes. I ended up paying someone to quilt it which made the "cheap" bedding not so cheap in the end. He still has not dust ruffle and no pillows that go on top. I figure that once he can actually make his bed nicely we can think about adding decorative pillows. Trav made his headboard which I love. Most importantly it has what he wanted in it sports stuff. Complete with the jersey in the ridiculous protective case that Trav wont take it out of and signs on the door.

I sure do love the two little boys who sleep in those rooms. They make me so happy and I know that they could care less how their rooms look so I am completely fine with them being not finished. After all Boston wont stop talking about sharing a room with Carter so these rooms most likely wont be this way for too long anyways.
