Vocal Cord Repair

This morning Carter had his vocal cord repair surgery. It was a quick one and he did great!
Thursday we had to get labs done and they wanted to have a urine sample. Can you say stage fright? It never did end up happening and thankfully they didn't seem to mind. Wish I would have known that before I sat in a bathroom with him for 30 minutes trying to get him to drink water and pee in a cup. Ha

You would think he had done this a time or two before. He was OBSESSED with those red hospital socks. Not sure if it was the silly juice talking or what, but he wouldn't stop talking about them.

The surgery went great and for the first time ever his vocal cords touched! We can't tell a difference in his voice yet, but after time and therapy we should be able to. Right now he uses his False Vocal Cords (FVC) to talk instead of his True Vocal Cords (TVC) and that is what gives him the super raspy voice. They went in and brought his left vocal cord (the one that is paralyzed) to mid line so that the right would be able to touch it. Dr. Camilon put in a temporary fix and in 6 months we will go in a do a permanent one. On Friday we go back to the doctor and will see what our next move is to get him using his true vocal cords.
