Last week of Summer!

I can't believe summer is over! I have zero regrets about this summer. We had SO much fun! I think we made up for our past two summers that were spent in and out of the hospital and kinda living in our little bubble. Actually I think we more than made up for it we didn't stop all summer! With that being said I was having a hard time letting it go. I figured we came in with a bang we might as well go out with a bang. I tried to plan something fun each day of the week and it must have been super fun and super tiring, because I didn't take pictures of everything and I can't remember the things not pictured. I do know we did something each day though.
We of course started the week off at Disney Land. The boys were SO excited that they could sit by each other on the Gadgets Go Coaster. This pic kills me with cuteness. I still can't believe Carter likes this stuff so much. He always says it's scary before we go, but comes of with the biggest smile and wants to go again and again. I should mention that he is usually the first one to throw his hands in the air accompanied with a loud "wee"!

Yep Carter still hates the characters!
We had a BBQ at the pool and then swam for a couple hours.
Glow stick baths were a huge hit!
We made our version of stained glass windows and by request skeletons. They of course were complete with Carter's kicking a ball, Boston's surfing, and mine holding balloons.
We had a family movie night! The boys enjoyed Super Buddies in their undies and ate way too much popcorn.
We ended the week with our usual Saturday morning trip to Blackies to surf and boogie with the Hunters! Boston is becoming quite the little Boogie Boarder!

Potty Talk

For the last little while I have been noticing that Carter has been going longer lengths of time between wet diapers. Meaning he holds it longer and goes in larger amounts. He has been interested in Boston going potty so we decided to get him a potty of his own. I am not sure who was more excited Carter or Boston, but if I had to bet on one I would put all my money on Boston.
I don't think he is really ready to be fully potty trained so I am not pushing it at all. I think for the most part he can make himself go, but he can't tell when he needs to go if that makes sense.
Boston has been very good to document it on his camera!
One proud little guy right there! He loves to take his little seat and flush it down the toilet.
We were worried that they didn't make underwear small enough for his skinny body, but thankfully Jake and the Neverland Pirates pulled through. He loves his "Yo Ho's" and wears them mostly at home, but on occasion a quick errand out of the house. He has days were he doesn't want to have anything to do with it and days where he is all about it! I don't plan on trying to make this a done deal for a while, but glad he at least has some interest!

Working hard for the Money!

Boston is the king of asking us to buy him something EVERY time we go somewhere. He even says "I don't care what it is will you just buy me something?" Um ya that's a problem that definitely needing some fixing. We were really good about chores and what not back in TX, but since the move we just got out of the habit and it was time to get it back. Since then he has been working hard to earn money so he can see how long it takes to earn money to buy things and hopefully appreciate the things he does have a little more. Some chores that he regularly does is empty the dishwasher (silver wear and kids dishes), clean his room, wipe down his bathroom counter, clean the toy room, separate the laundry, and fold socks. It's not the easiest thing to get him to work, but it definitely is getting easier.

One thing we told him we could do was collect cans and plastic bottles to recycle. He has his soda loving sparkling water drinker dad to thank for this one. We leave them out on the counter and he makes sure they are empty and puts them in the bags in the garage. He was pretty proud when we took him to turn them in and he had earned enough to buy the HEX bug track he has been eyeing for a while now. I think this money making system is working! He has been so cautious about what he spends his money on and often tells us "that is way too expensive!"

He still asks a lot if he can get something, but when we turn it back on him that he has to pay for it he usually quiets right down. He has even brought his own money to Target a couple times to check out the dollar spot and has walked away empty handed! I feel so proud every time and feel like we are making a teeny tiny bit of headway on the understanding money business.

Photo Booth Surprise!

Back in August when we were in Santa Rosa at the fair we all four crammed into the photo booth. I can't even begin to describe how hard we laughed when this pic came out. Trav and I had no idea the boys were kissing too. This definitely falls into the category of one of my all time favorite pics!

Therapy

Pretty sure Boston enjoys therapy more than Carter does. He will miss going when school starts. Carter's therapists are going to miss him too. He is such a good motivator. I will miss how excited he gets whenever Carter completes a task. He is THE best brother!

Date Night at Disney

We had so much fun doing a date night at Disney Land. I had never been on some of the bigger rides that we can't do with kids. It was SO much fun and we can't wait to do it again!

Surfing

 The beach crew.
Carter does this all the time and is so proud of himself every time.

We went with the Hunters to do a little surf lesson session. Trav got up a couple time and Boston was feeling brave and got out there. He LOVED it and hasn't stopped talking about it. I was super proud of him because ever since he got taken over by a big wave at the beginning of the summer he has been very timid to go out to far. It was a fun day and the ways were perfect for the kids.
